See my review of the first book, Jade Darcy and the Affair of Honor: The Rehumanization of Jade Darcy (Volume 1).
In this book we see much more of one of the races encountered before, and uncover more secrets of Jade's past. Political intrigue is raised to new levels, dominating some subplots.
There is one scene describing an explicit sexual encounter, but it is revealed backstory and not gratuitous.
Sadly, there are no more books in this series, Goldin not having written since 2002.
Jade accepts the job as bodyguard to the only human visitor to a restricted world during the planets change of government. Good action, humor, and great alien culture. Jade as a character continues to grow and we meet new aliens who bring fun to the universe she lives in. Goldin/Mason never returned to this series so only two books exist. Glad to see they are again available.
