About The Book

The Age of Man has passed, and a new age is upon the Earth. An age of magic and technology ruled by the supernatural beings that once hid amongst humanity has begun.

Bayne is thrust into a world he thinks he knows but quickly discovers his whole life has been built on lies. Talos, perfectly happy ruling his corner of the world, is faced with an unexpected and unwelcome change that comes with the mate chosen by Fate. Together they must discover how to live and, in the end, love one another. Fate has more in store for them than learning to love someone they should hate. Will they be open to all the possibilities Fate lays out for them?

Bloodlines of Fate is a new urban fantasy series set in a world destroyed by humans and resurrected by supernatural beings. Fate has many plans for the vampires, unicorns, therianthropes, elves, and humans of this new world. While their mates may be fated, love isn’t that easy.

This book contains depictions of gladiatorial combat, snarky fem twinks who will cut you, kings in stilettos, and awkward heats with a pinch of daddy kink.

Talos is part one of a two-part story arc that tells the love story of two triads (MMM). It does end in an HFN with a HEA tied into the second part. This is a type of omegaverse with mpreg.

The Review

Carothers has created a new genre of vampires in this first book of their series.  It is an ensemble cast type of series with a main couple in each book.  This is most certainly an adult series.  There is explicit violence and sex on the page.  The strengths of this book are most definitely in the world building.

There are so many unique details throughout the book that are both intriguing and sometimes terrifying.  The relationship between the two main characters is initially very adversarial.  Talos and Bayne are not on the same page.

With Bayne’s history and upbringing, his resolution with Talos felt a little rushed to me.  Their physical interactions overshadowed their emotional intimacy.  The relationship between side characters Odin and Majid felt more sincere, and was heart-wrenching,  leaving me wanting to know more about them.   This was a solid start for a new series.

The Reviewer

In writing this bio I am taking a rare break from reading! I always have a book on hand just in case there is time to sneak in a chapter or two. As a military spouse and a mom of two boys, it is amazing how often I am hurrying up to wait. Luckily for me I don’t have a favorite genre so I get lots of fun authors to choose from. My education was in sociology and mental health counseling, so stories with strong character development are my favorites. Happily Ever After is the best part of romance for me because real life is hard enough.
