When sisterhood by blood is pure misery, can sisterhood by trial be any different?

My sister deserved to die, but I didn't kill her. If I take the blame, I'm next on the sacrificial altar.

The Red Sisters know this. Now they're watching me.

I'm about to find out why.

In their underground city, only the cunning and the bold thrive.

Sirana Thalluensareci refuses to be cowed. Banished from everything she knew after surviving an assassination attempt, the abused dark elf finds delight in the sensual thrills of the court’s explicit intimacies. But she’s taken off-guard when one of the realm’s most powerful organizations steps out of the shadows to abduct her to their lair.

Relying on her wits and nerve to thread her way through a controlling sisterhood, Sirana navigates passionate encounters, sharp-edged battles, and a series of initiation rituals where failure means a painful death.

Even as the independent warrior-in-training discovers a taste for hidden pleasures, old scars threaten her ability to survive on the danger-strewn path when the Red Sisters' competitors, the Daughters of Braqth, turn their eyes toward her.

As everyone around her pushes her to the edge, can she keep her balance and avoid falling into the spider's trap?

If you crave found family, nuanced characters, bold and steamy scenes with touches of survival horror, then you’ll love A.S. Etaski’s Machiavellian matriarchy. Begin the intense first trilogy of the Sister Seekers series today!

I glanced around the chamber; it was still empty. Just me and the Sathoet, both naked, and him with an erection. He breathed in my scent with evident pleasure, even if he dared not do more than lean his head over the garnet border of the diamond without touching it.

I did not know what to do, what was expected. I still didn't understand why I was here. Perhaps I was just to be toyed with in some twisted games before being killed for some imagined slight to some bitter crone.

You’ll miss your chance.

So my collector had said.

What chance? What did they want to see?

The Sathoet leaned down and licked my ankle, and I flinched, although it hadn't felt unpleasant, just different. When I kept staring and studying him, he hissed and reached with his hand to stroke his erection a few times. I recognized it was to delay some of the aches that would come if he wasn't allowed release soon.

Knowing my elders, there was a reason we were both here. What would he do if I were outside the border? Perhaps bowing and scraping for sex wasn't his first choice, like it wasn't mine.

I slid my foot toward the edge of the border; the movement caught his attention, and his eyes were pinned to my progress. When I stopped just short of it, his yellow eyes glanced up at me but returned to my foot almost immediately as if he might miss the briefest opportunity of my toe reaching the edge of the border. I felt my heart rate increase as a predator’s gaze fixed on my foot.

Not just a dumb beast or a fawning pet.

There was power there, something to give, something to take.

I scooted forward and thrust my entire foot outside of the garnet border. The Sathoet froze for the split-moment it took him to understand that I was his, then he seized my ankle with one hot hand, yanking me out of the diamond with one pull.

I was on my back staring up at him, and I kicked with my other free foot, striking him in his chest with my heel. He growled and dragged me the rest of the way out, close enough to him that he could kneel between my legs and lean over me. He bared his knife-sized teeth in a snarling, eager smile.

Don’t. You. Dare!” I roared with all the bluster I could bring to bear, rising up like a serpent and swatting him open-handed across the face.

The sound of the slap echoed perfectly in the chamber, and he appeared genuinely dumbfounded for as long as the echo took to fade. His grip loosened on my ankle, and I slipped free, rolling to get to my feet to gain distance before facing and glaring at him.

A brief pause, and then his snarl came back as he made eye contact with me.

He charged.

Holy Cudamondeeeeeee

Books I've commonly come across similar to this, is more of a brotherhood. This book right here, is a SISTERhood. Lord, you'll never find aggressive females like this anywhere else. Tighten your drawstrings and belts boys. This is a female dominated society.

First off, I was recommended this book because I requested one with dwarf sex. Oh baby, this delivered and then some. Possibly one of the best scenes (to me) in this book.

Sirana is a dark elf. Where she stands in her family ... she is like simple cannon fodder. She's just thrown into a game of politics and moved around like a pawn. Little did they know our little Sirana has some strength and brains behind her. She won't just be a mindless pawn after all. But she's not perfect either.

If you are looking for something different. This book is it.

It is one of a few books which creates a matriarchal world and does it right. The strength of the women portrayed is not just ‘male characteristics’ slapped onto characters with female names, but each one is given a personality that is not only unique to them but reads so true to a distinctly female perspective. This stands out where other fantasy books I have read have not felt as organic as this one did. It was completely refreshing.

About the Author

Etaski writes mature epic fantasy with an ever-broadening scope. Inspired by table-top RPG, her stories weave through subgenres, so things never get stale. Found Family is a core theme throughout her world. She adores sensual, subversive Dark Elves facing off with cunning demons, clever dragons causing trouble, and deadpan necromancers summoning the walking dead alongside dwarves in battle through high-stakes adventures.

Her series begins underground with an isolated race of Dark Elves. The beginning is not for the faint of heart, and perfect for fans of entwined plots, challenging themes, immersive worldbuilding, and elements of erotic horror. Sexuality and inner conflict play into character growth with nuance, intrigue, action, and fantastical magic.

Her most inspiring epic stories are Neil Gaiman's Sandman, Wendy Pini's ElfQuest, Melanie Rawn's Dragon Prince, and J. Michael Straczynski's Babylon 5.
