A bus of missing children, and a ticking clock – no one knows where they have gone…

A small yellow school bus pulls up in front of the little red brick schoolhouse. Telly, the bus driver, discovers all of the children are missing -- all except one very frightened Billy who has hidden in a cabinet. Where is everyone? Telly and Billy are determined to find the answers.

The little town of Rocky Flats is stirred into a frenzy. Nothing like this has ever happened before! Where have the children gone? Why? As the clock ticks and the little town rallies together in the search, will they find the children before it's too late?

Children Of the Future By Jane Suen is a dark thriller that features Telly the bus driver turned hero. Jane Suen is one of the authors that everyone should read at least one of her books in their lifetime. In this book she draws you down a narrow path of despair when all the towns children go missing but one and the race is on to find all the missing children. This book is exceptionally written and is a super quick read, I read the entire book in one morning I couldn’t bear to put it down. The whole time you are formulating a theory of the missing kids and by the end of the book you couldn’t be more wrong. Solid 5 stars from me.

What starts out as an ordinary day turns to something out of The Twilight Zone when bus driver Terrance realizes that every teacher and all but one student have disappeared from the school in town. With the aid of the remaining child, Terrance sets out on a journey for answers, and what he finds is chilling.

When I started reading Children of the Future, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was no let down. Full of mystery and intrigue, this is a real page turner, mostly because I haven’t read anything like it before. The conclusion of the story was imaginative, and I loved it.

The writing style is easy to follow and the characters are written in a believable way. This is one of those books that leave you thinking after you’ve turned the last page.

Recommended for fans of mystery and thriller.

A good little mystery for younger readers. Telly drives the school bus, but his routine is upset one day when all the kids disappear. Billy is the only kid who avoids being kidnapped by hiding in a cupboard. The pace is gentle and the “darker” elements aren’t too dark at all. Once Telly sets his mind to finding out what happened, the plot moves with more pace. I can’t reveal the reason for the abduction (no spoilers) but younger readers won’t be troubled by any of it. More likely, they'll be intrigued. Equally, there’s a twist at the end that you might have to think about. Again, it touches on an important debate that will get young minds thinking.
