It’s sometimes hard to say what draws you in to a story, what keeps you turning pages. With Skylar’s Gift, for me it was the beautifully portrayed characters, the gentle steps of a relationship growing, the uncertainty of a person’s place because of old pain. Of course there’s a twist in there as well. Overall it was a most satisfying and heartwarming novel. And that’s in keeping with the rest of this wonderful series.

Maggie Bock has been one of my favorite characters throughout the Prophecy series... In Skylar's Gift, Maggie has grown up and fallen in love with Skylar Trimble. The couple has their challenges as Skylar is half human/half Matiran with a deceased father who was a traitor and a reclusive mother who trusts no one. Lea Kirk excellently balances this story of young love with an unexpected murder.

I love the idea of "nice guy" hero, and Skylar fits the bill perfectly. I really enjoyed the writing in this book--it flowed so nicely. This is one of those books where you can picture yourself in the scene. It's very visual. Great world-building.
