“Wait!” Krithannia called as Pilla squawked in alarm.
Ignoring them all, Mourn took a running leap off the landing and opened his wings over the water. He’d never flown except in dreams, though I doubted our ensuing trip could be called “flying.”
Air rushed my face and vapor pressed up my nose. The disquieting roar of the spring grew louder and louder.
Ahead, Indrath tucked in his red, leathery wings, dropping like a well-aimed spear through the tidy, clean hole and into the dark, swirling mist.
Mourn and I followed him into the heart of Io’sulta.
In that instant, we were all drenched.
